hello Ken, We live in north Idaho and there is a very interesting train here in an amusement park called Silverwood. My sons and grandkids have worked there a lot. The train is a 1915 steam locomotive, they say it was called “old # 7” I don’t know if that is still what they call it. It has a very interesting history of running on different kinds of fuels, in different locations. I can’t seem to find any info on it., one time when we road it, the attendant gave a complete detailed talk about its history. If you are ever in N Idaho I’m sure you would enjoy talking to the engineers and reading its history, which I’m sure is in the railway station. The park is only open during the summer, as we have a lot of snow in the winter.
We enjoyed your OSH calendar which my husbands sister, who lives in San jose, sent to him for his birthday. We have several OSH calendars from years back, all about trains with great pictures.

I do not know the ins and outs of a trains mechanism, but I can certainly enjoy a ride on one (and I’ve been on many trains since living in China for 25 yrs) and I also appreciate good art. My favorite of yr works I think must be the cover of the OSH 2016 calendar in the forest. Makes me want to run out and take a train to wherever! I also love the realism U portray in the “Reversing into Chehallis”. I had to look carefully to convince myself that it was only a painting and not a photo. The Lord God has given you a wonderful gift. May you continue to use this gift for His glory!

Sorry for this belated response and thank you so much for your encouraging words for Ken’s art work. Yes, we also love “Rounding the Horseshoe Curve” and “Reversing into Chehalis”. We visited these locations as family trips. Ken took hundreds of photos of the locomotives from which he chose one to draw. “Chehalis” actually includes his mother videotaping the train from the station.

Thanks for your wonderful art. I woke up during the night thinking about a birthday present for my fiance, and your railroad art jumped into my mind. He loves trains and has never seen your work. As I write this, he is picking out three train prints, and having a hard time deciding! I think he’s going to choose the train that he engineered for a day last year (also a birthday present) at Big Trees, your “Sonora at the Depot” print. I’ll order them as soon as he gives me his list!
